“…our doula support took the edge off that challenge and helped us enjoy things. Knowing that there was someone to help my partner was a huge help to me. Everything wasn’t on me & on my shoulders.”
I found having the support of a doula brilliant. On the day of my partner’s Caesarean and for those few days she was in hospital, having that additional layer of support for her was a real weight off my mind, as I juggled looking after older kids too. And the experience and support / advocacy of our doula was really helpful for us in terms of surviving hospital!! Once we came home, that support continued. The older kids were crazy about our team of doulas, which was ace. And it made things easier. Obviously things were still challenging, with twins + two other kids. But our doula support took the edge off that challenge and helped us enjoy things. Knowing that there was someone to help my partner was a huge help to me. Everything wasn’t on me & on my shoulders. And the practical support which the doulas were able to offer - especially during night shifts - was wonderful!!
It was me who had pushed the idea of having a Doula; my partner wasn’t sure. So I was relieved and delighted when she had such a good experience even just speaking to our potential on the phone that first day. And the practical assistance, meeting us where we were was brilliant. Our team of doulas got to know us and vice versa. Which was ace.
Would 100% recommend a doula as support for birthing-mummy and also for whole family

“…it was the most useful gift obviously."
I think what my friend did was fantastic. It's a great gift to get from a group of friends, especially if they're not around/emigrated. And it was the most useful gift obviously."

“Our doula….was an absolute dream!”
Our doula, Louise, was an absolute dream! She took care of our son - fed him, sang to him, changed him, cooked meals for us, ironed, etc. all while I was able to sleep in, rest and shower. She was very professional, always perfectly on time, very caring and generous. We will truly miss her!

I’m telling everyone about my experience with DoulaCare because it was the best decision I could make.
With DoulaCare I found very professional support since the first contact. It was so helpful after my Caesarean to have someone to bring you the baby, change a nappy, help in the shower, talk to the nurse in the hospital. The confidence the doulas passed to me and the special care and love was brilliant . I’m telling everyone about my experience with DoulaCare because it was the best decision I could make. My doulas were super and essential helpers

Anita has been a great help, both for birth (it would have been really difficult without her) and postpartum to understand our baby's needs,
As an expat, I was afraid of giving birth and taking care of my newborn away from my family. I had no experience with babies whatsoever and I was scared of doing things wrong. Anita has been a great help, both for birth (it would have been really difficult without her) and postpartum to understand our baby's needs, helping me caring for Costia and providing me with information I can trust on different subjects (breatfeeding, sleep, safety, ...)
For postpartum, she helped us organise ourselves with our new baby and adapt to our new life. She is a great source of information and she showed us how to take care of our baby.

“They have enabled me to be the Mum that I wanted for my son. I literally would have been utterly lost without the support and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.”
The second my husband contacted you, you couldn’t have been more helpful and were able to offer us help straight away. I cannot put into words the quality of care from each and every doula. As I midwife, I was really nervous that I’d be judged to be incompetent! Sounds ridiculous now but I was terrified the doulas would think I should know what to do .... and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Every time they were here I felt totally supported and guided and listened to without ever feeling anything but kindness and support. They enabled me to grow in confidence in caring for Felix and encouraged me to know I was doing a good job. They really supported me especially as I’m exclusively pumping, which a lot of people don’t understand at all and in the midst of Felix having colic they gave me the support I needed to cope. They have enabled me to be the Mum that I wanted for my son. I literally would have been utterly lost without the support and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. The service is simply excellent. Your service is amazing and I will continue to tell everyone about it. The ladies were simply extraordinary in their skill set. If and when we have a sibling we will definitely use the service again and I will be recommending it to all of my colleagues and friends.

"Highly Recommend Jen!"
Highly Recommend Jen! Thank you so much for everything you've done for us. I still repeat your words in my head every day; "Relax into motherhood" & "Trust your instincts". It's my mantra - Thank you! I will tell everyone about your service

"...an incredibly knowledgeable person..."
Jen is an incredibly knowledgeable person whose warm willingness to support women and families impresses me. As a doula myself, Jen is the first person I go to with questions because I know her experience and compassion is genuine. I would highly recommend Jen to anyone in the Dublin area looking for birth or postpartum support.

"...great warmth and empathy for new mothers, siblings and fathers..."
Amazing support. Jen helped get us off to a flying start with our second child, at a time when we most needed her support. She has great warmth and empathy for new mothers, siblings and fathers too. Highly recommended.

"everyone needs a "Jen" pre and post baby!!
I booked with Jen for an antenatal course initially. I found the course very informative and enjoyable as Jen is so knowledgeable about all things labour, birth and baby related! I felt much more confident about making the right decisions for me and positive about the upcoming labour.
I then hired Jen postpartum as i was struggling with breastfeeding. Jen is such a naturally warm caring person and really makes you feel comfortable and confident, which is exactly what you need in those first few weeks. With her knowledge and experience she was able to point me in the right direction to get further help. Without all of this support, i would have given up breastfeeding.
I couldn't recommend Jen highly enough, everyone needs a "Jen" pre and post baby!!
You provide such an invaluable service and it's rare to meet someone so perfectly suited to their job and clearly loving what they do

"Jen brought a calmness to the house which was very welcome at a time of stress"
Jen is one in a million. We were really lucky to have had her help our family as a post partum Doula. We had twins and a toddler when Jen came to help us. We'd recently moved back to Ireland from the UK and moved in to a new house. I'd also hurt my back and so it was a bit of a crazy time in our family and we were in need of an extra pairs of hands. Jen brought a calmness to the house which was very welcome at a time of stress. She helped us get our family back on its feet. She was adaptable to our family ethos, was a phenomenal listener and a rock of sense. She was fantastic with the babies, she was encouraging of our parenting choices, she gave me invaluable breastfeeding advice, she prepared great meals for us, the laundry was done before we even had to ask - nothing was too much trouble for her and everything was done with ease. Jen also brought some Christmas cheer to our house when during one nightshift she put up our Christmas tree as I wasn't able to! We trust Jen completely and even had her look after our boys while we went on a much needed night away. We hope to stay in touch as friends for years to come.

"...what I found invaluable about my experience, was the compassion and emotional support that Jen provided during that time."
We hired Jen as a postpartum doula for the practical things like cooking, laundry & tasks at home but what I found invaluable about my experience, was the compassion and emotional support that Jen provided during that time. We were expecting our second child and unfortunately do not have family close by for support, so my mother gifted us the postpartum doula services. The arrival of a new baby is an emotionally exciting but also physically exhausting time which makes it difficult to manage all of the day to day tasks. As mothers we spend so much of our time doing for others and for me it was a luxury to have someone there giving me and my family that support so that I could rest & recover from birth while also bonding with my second child & caring for my first who was at home full time. Although it seemed like a luxury at the time, I feel now that having the support of a postpartum doula was a necessity & is something that all women should have after the birth of a child. As the saying goes 'you can't pour from an empty cup' and in order to be able to care for a new baby, a woman needs care & support herself. I recently recommended Jen to a friend who was expecting her second child & I would highly recommend Jen's services to any expectant mother.

"A group of friends gave me vouchers for Jen's services and I would thoroughly recommend people to do the same if they are thinking of a really helpful new baby gift!"
"I hired Jen as post partum doula for after the birth of my second baby. She was with us every step of the way, including providing support and information ante natally. I would say Jen is a person who goes above and beyond for her clients. I was particularly nervous about breastfeeding my second child because my experience on the first baby was far too short but Jen was with me every step of the way in the first few weeks and her confidence in me was absolutely the biggest factor in successfully feeding this time. At 10 months we are still going strong! When circumstances changed and my husband missed the birth and first two weeks of the baby's life, Jen was there to help me organise things and care for my daughter. I would absolutely recommend her post partum services to anyone. A truly remarkable woman and always seems to have the answers. A group of friends gave me vouchers for Jen's services and I would thoroughly recommend people to do the same if they are thinking of a really helpful new baby gift! "

I knew I needed support but didn’t realise how much until after Jen’s visits.
I will most definitely be availing of their services in the future.
I cannot recommend Jen at Doulacare Ireland enough.
As a 1st time mother I was really lost when my husband went back to work and spent the days panicking and wondering if what I was doing was right.
Jen is such a warm , calming & reassuring person and just blended into our little home like she was always there.
I knew I needed support but didn’t realise how much until after Jen’s visits.
I will most definitely be availing of their services in the future.

"Having a doula was wonderful, I felt supported rather than alone".
I chose to hire a doula for postpartum support because I was afraid I would struggle to cope with just looking after my son on my own, the first night after having a caesarean. After my first child I was so exhausted and in so much pain that it was one of the hardest nights of my life. I was terrified that something would happen to her if I fell asleep as I was so wrecked, and the nurses were so busy that it wasnt enough help at all.
I had my doula helping me in the hospital on my first night after the birth of my son. She was just wonderful, and I am so glad I chose to avail of the service. She helped me in lots of different ways - was excellent around breastfeeding support which was a huge help as I was struggling a bit, she showed me different positions and had other little handy tips, she was great just to talk to about lots of aspects of motherhood; she watched James while I slept, helped me change him etc... Also, her own personality and manner was so relaxed that it really took pressure of me and helped me to relax about not doing everything perfectly! Having her there was wonderful, I felt supported rather than alone.

"You were an enormous help and worth every penny."
I was really struggling trying to exclusively pump with a reflux baby with other tummy issues who basically couldn’t be put down. I was getting almost no sleep as we had to keep her upright for 2 hours and pump after every bottle. Being an extra pair of hands was amazing and letting me pump or nap. But also the bit of company was really helpful and to just have someone to bounce things off as we were struggling with our new baby. There were such lovely women who came into our lives at a very low point and really helped improve the mood in the house. I was also surprised by how much household assistance they were willing to do.
Having a postpartum doula is basically like renting a sister or mother to help you get through it all and to do it! It made a difficult time so much easier and I feel I had a very positive impact on my marriage also as it took a potential major conflict out of the equation. I was getting the support I needed and my husband was able to go into work confident that we would get through the day.
You were an enormous help and worth every penny.

"I’ve recommended your service to others."
Clare and Zoe have been a huge help, great support and company. I did so much preparation for pregnancy and labour but none really for after the birth, which is the toughest part. I hadn’t realized how tired or how much in a haze I’d be when I’d get home from the hospital. I found it hard to function. It has been great to be able to get advice on questions as they have arisen and to be able to discuss any concerns over my baby with someone. I’ve recommended your service to others.

I would tell a friend considering a doula to 100% go for it, it’s worth every penny.
I found the support of my doula invaluable to me and my family. I would tell a friend considering a doula to 100% go for it, it’s worth every penny. Birth and postpartum are so sacred, women need to be supported wholly during this period. The doula chosen for us was a wonderful person, so friendly and helpful. I miss her!!

"Our doula was sympathetic and never judgemental and very supportive."
"Our doula was sympathetic and never judgemental and very supportive. She also enabled me to catch ups on sleep and her whizzing around with chores and meal preparation was a lesson for me - I’ve adopted it into my everyday now!”

"Tricia not only helped with the chores, she also gave me some of the most valuable advice and answers to questions I never even thought of asking!"
The intitial interaction with DoulaCare Ireland was amazing and reassured me in my decision to reach out for help. Having just come home with a newborn and struggling the way I was, I was very afraid of the judgement of a "professional mum" but Jen was so warm and understanding and replied to my email almost immediately. I felt a big sense of relief after the first phone call already, knowing that there was someone out there to help me.The support was beyond my expectations and a true life-saver!
Since I had developed postpartum depression, I was at my very lowest after the initial weeks at home and had to acknowledge that I neither couldn't nor didn't wanna do this "on my own" (despite having a very supportive and understanding partner!!). Having Tricia to support me took away a lot of the pressure I felt on me and gave me some confidence in my ability to be a good mother and that I was "doing things right" already.
Despite being the first one to have a child in my circle of friends and not having my own support system of family and relations around, the most helpful part of doula support was to get all the "inside information" and reassurance of an experienced mum. It's just very soothing for a first-time mum to have sb on her side who has been through it all :)
Tricia not only helped with the chores, she also gave me some of the most valuable advice and answers to questions I never even thought of asking! E.g. she introduced us to using a baby sling (which I never considered before) which turned out to be a life-saver esp. in the first few months. Baba loved it and I finally could get some things done on my own!
I regret not getting the support of a doula at an earlier stage and would certainly do so with any further children. My partner felt a sense of relief seeing that I was doing much better with Tricia's support and highly appreciated the beautiful meals she cooked for dinner :)
