I’m Emma and I live in Tipperary with my husband and two children. Following the experience of birthing of my daughter, my firstborn, I began the journey into doula work. I trained in September 2018 as a Birth Doula and I will train in May 2019 for my postpartum certification.
Studying Human Rights in university I have always been passionate about promoting autonomy and I have always had a specific interest in women’s rights. Pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period are such precious times in a women’s life and I believe that having birth and postpartum doula can really enhance that experience by guiding them and ultimately supporting their journey and whatever choices they make.
I believe in a no judgement approach. My role is supportive and I’m there to help facilitate the birth you would like. I have had two very different experiences of labour and I think this knowledge will assist me in helping women (& birth partners) navigate theirs. When pregnant women are prepared, respected, supported and empowered magical things can happen regardless of the direction the birth takes.
I am delighted to be part of the DoulaCare Ireland team.
